[Her motives were practical from the start. She and Pietro would join S.H.I.E.L.D. in exchange for safety and potentially the release of political prisoners. Other mutants. In exchange they would work for Director Fury in whatever capacity they were assigned.

They weren't to be trusted right away, however. Both she and Pietro were former terrorists. They had worked under their father, the head of the Brotherhood of Mutants and while perhaps the blood wasn't directly on her hands as it was on Pietro's, they were both culpable for their actions. Wanda understood Fury's attempt to keep them out of sight for the time being. They had much to make up for before he'd risk associating their names with the Avengers.

But they had eventually proven themselves, just as the others had before that, in their unfailing support of the team. She, with her hexes, and Pietro, with his speed, had turned the tides of battle time and again and proven themselves to be heroes, equals of the Avengers and deserving of public recognition as part of the team.

Wanda had always had her pride, as a mutant, as someone who was supposed to be better than mere humans, but it had been a cold thing compared to what she felt as an active member of the Avengers. They were a different kind of people from those she and her brother had worked with before. There was true teamwork there, intent to work toward a greater good rather than personal gain or glory. They put themselves on the line, their lives on the line for it, and Wanda couldn't help but secretly be moved by their dedication to good.]

[Amused, she mocks a shocked reaction.]

_{( Clint grins, at that, and heads for the cupboard. Before Wanda can blink, he'll have ingredients out on the counter, for omelets and pancakes and whatever else he can get his hands on. )}

[She could have asked for more but this is enough for what he wants. He earns extra points for choosing to cook himself rather than call in for food or have someone else at a restaurant do the breakfast-making.

With her tea prepared, she moves her cup out of the way and leans against the counter to watch and sip at it.]

If you want I can throw hexes at you to dodge while you cook.

Well, you could, but I can't guarantee the quality of the meal, in that case.

You might have a point there. Maybe another time.

[She crosses her arms over her chest and drinks from her cup.]

What's on the menu?

Well, that depends. What're you in the mood for--sweet or savory?

[suddenlydinosaurs]

Mm, savory I think.

[Her tea is sweet enough.]

Omelets it is, then. _{( And he begins a strange hodge-podge of motions, cracking eggs and chopping ingredients. )}

Then omelets it is.

[She goes quiet, drinking from her cup as she watches him cook. It's not something she knows how to make herself, though it's something she enjoys. Pietro's made them for her often enough.]

Was this also part of your training or did you pick it up elsewhere?

_{( This time he doesn't look back at her, just continues working as he replies. )}

Hey, a guy's gotta eat. And I don't know if you've figured this out yet, but standard-issue SHIELD anything usually sucks.

I had. There's a reason that Pietro cooks for us or that we go out so often.

[Pietro had managed to learn more than she had in the kitchen, as he required so much more food with his accelerated metabolism.]

You'd think they'd have the funds to afford better chefs in the communal eating areas.

Hey, at the end of the day, it's a government organization. They're always going to bitch about money.

_{( He rolls his eyes. His esteem for SHIELD isn't exactly what it used to be. )}

Perhaps someone could persuade Stark to make a charitable donation to the stomachs of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

[Wanda doesn't have much esteem for many organizations. She works for Fury but it doesn't mean that they've consistently met her higher standards.

Not wanting to be idle, Wanda started gathering things together to eat. Plates, silverware, that sort of thing.]

Are you making one for yourself as well?

[arches]

I'd rather he just kept building up our house.

_{( Clint flips her omelet, landing it neatly on a plate. )}

I might as well, I guess.

_{( A few minutes later, he presents her with two gourmet omelets, and pulls a stool up to the counter to take a seat. )}

[Wanda takes the omelets to the counter, grabs a seat next to him, and picks up a fork.]

You have a point. Better that get finished first...

[She cuts a piece off of the omelet, blows on it to make sure it's cool before popping it into her mouth. Wanda's eyes widen with surprise.]

Better than I expected.

_{( Clint, who had no qualms about digging in, swallows and turns to her with a grin. )}

You must've been expecting something pretty awful, then.

[Continuing to cut up her food, she casts him an amused, unapologetic look.]

You're known for your precision with a bow, not cooking, Clint.

[arches]

Precision is precision, sweetheart. It doesn't go away when I put down the bow.

With a statement like that, I just want to put it to the test.

[In unexpected in ridiculous ways, just to see how far his skill extends.]

Go for it, then. Any time you want.

That's half the fun, around here. Make sure you don't sit on Cap's shield, or stay away from Tony's lab when the lights are out.
